As a result of the depletion high-grade manganese reserves, it has become necessary to consider exploitation low-grade ores. The main problem ore is low Mn/Fe ratio, which makes unfit for production ferroalloys. In this work, selective reduction technique was used smelting low-manganese in presence coke and fluxing material an electric submerged arc furnace obtain rich slag pig iron. product blended with medium-manganese smelted furnace, agent, produce silicomanganese alloy. influence reducing agent charge basicity, Mn/Si ratio on process investigated. optimum conditions were found be of, 1.35, 2.0, basicity 2.5. alloy produced under these satisfies specifications Si16Mn63 Si17Mn65. experimental results applied pilot scale, producing chemical composition close that standard specifications.
